Mechanisms of PGPB undirect action on plant growth and development
(Part IV review «Plant growth promoting bacteria – the way to sustainable eco-friendly crops production»)
V.F. Kozlovskaya
Summarу. PGPBs have an indirect effect on plant growth and development. It is performed these functions by the suppression of soil pathogens. Being in constant contact, bacteria have evolved a number of strategies, including competition with pathogens for a nutrient substrate and location, lysis of cellular components, antibiosis, synthesis of volatile compounds, as well as induction of systemic resistance (ISR) or acquisition of systemic resistance channels (SAR). The higher affinity of PGPBs siderophores for iron, as well as the imposition of molecular pathways of ISR and Fe absorption mechanisms, determine the dual role of these features: providing plants with iron and resistance to biotic stresses.
Key words: biological defense agents, induced systemic resistance, acquired systemic resistance, siderophores.
